Are they one in the same? Would anyone know where I could find some really detailed pictures of a Walleye?

NO THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, EXCEPT THEY SWIM IN THE SAME WATER. PUBLIC LIBRARY, IN-FISHERMAN MAGAZINE, WALLEYE-INSIDER MAGAZINE. TIM

In the walleye family their are:
1. Perch, yellow with dark vertical bars
2. Walleye, gold body color, with white tip on tail
3. Sauger, usually gray coloring with distinct dark blotches on body with no white tip on tail. Black blotches on dorsal fin.
4. Saugeye, grayish coloring, light blotches on body with no black blotches on dorsal fin.
5. Blue Pike - which is a walleye that was found in Lake Erie that had a blue'ish tint with bigger eyes than a walleye. They think it is extinct though.
Pickeral's I think are in the Pike family.
Like the Chain Pickeral which doesn't get as big as the Northern Pike.
Use your internet search engine and type in walleye pictures or pickeral to find any links. www.in-fisherman.com has walleye pictures. Babe Winkelmans web site has them too.
Hope this helps you out!

Hi Tim Wis
Thanks for your help.
I've been doing some browsing and realized that the Walleye is from the perch family and that the Pike is of the Esox family.
Thanks

Some confusion can come from regional "names" for the walleye. Here in the states, walleyes are more or less commonly referred to as such. Up in Canada, however, walleye are sometimes referred to as pickerel (in Quebec, they are called Dore).
Thus some confusion.
As noted above, pickerel are in the Esox (northerns, muskie, etc) family. Walleye are in the perch (stitzodeneum-sp?) family.
