For several years I used the Berkely cross loks because they were small, strong and stayed closed in all cases. This year I have noticed a dramatic difference in the quality of the wire used for the cross lok portion of the swivel snap. After opening and closing a few times, they lose all strength and just break, sometimes on a good fish. The swivel bearing seems just as good as before.
Any one else out there notice this? Could we make a group suggestion to the company to see if they change back? Maybe send an email etc. Would need an address if anyone has one.

Let's see who else has had this problem.

I agree with your findings. I have gone to a snap that has more of a rounded hook so that the lure I use has more room for action. I believe they are made by southbend.

You can contact Berkley through their website at www.berkley-fishing.com. They do take user input seriously. LOL Fred

They did the same thing with their larger (muskie) size cross locks. I talked to one of their reps recently and was told they are bringing the old style back due to popular demand.

Recently tried a new brand of snaps made in Canada. I think they're called "Stringeaze". They lock in the closed position very securely and have a rounded snap which improves lure action. Can't remember the web page. Maybe someone out there can help.
