When my wife and I stopped to tour the Ranger plant in Fliffin, Arkansas a few years ago, there were several buyers there to pick up their new boats. Do these folks buy thru a dealer, or does Ranger sell direct to buyers? If it is factory purchase, it would no doubt more than pay for a nice Arkansas trip.

Picking up my new one at Ranger at 8:00 am Monday morning --Yippee. I save quite a bit of money by picking up my own, plus I like to get a few Bull Shoals crappies since I have spring fever. You must buy the boat through a dealer, but you can pick it up yourself and save the shipping. I have found that the difference in sales tax pays for my gas to go get it. I save only a couple hundred bucks, but I enjoy the trip. This is the third time I've done it.

Just crappies? Your missing some nice walleye action. What model of Ranger? Having spring rains moving thru every few days. Good luck!

Actually thinking about some stripers and trout, too. If you have fishing info for Bull Shoals, Norfork, etc. I would love to have some tips. Supposed to be raining Mon-Weds while I'll be there.

I'm getting a 619 w/200 optimax.

You're getting a mighty nice rig -- enjoy.
Incidentally, when you tour the plant you'll see they still "make them one at a time," but in groups of about 50.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-31-00 AT 06:53PM (CST)[p]http://www.wildernesstrail.com/ is the best source for up to date fishing information. I'll be ordering my new Ranger in about 2 weeks.

Crappies? Bass?
Sure, both fun fish in their own right, but it's the trout down there that i love to chase. Can't beat the White River for hours of easy fun.

I styayed at Gaston's when I was there and the river runs right behind your cabin. Can't beat that! Of course, if you are there to pick up the new boat, you'll probably want to use it.:-)

Good luck....R

To answer the question.....No Ranger does not sell
direct to the customer..But you can pick up your new rig there if ordered completely rigged out.
Could save you freight costs if you are a long way from Flippin....and want to go down there on a "vacation" and grab your new boat while there.
Yeah, it would cost to drive there...but if you wanted to go anyway...works good.
Sounds like a nice plan to me.

Hey Gang,

When they say, "Still make them one at a time", that is correct. Every boat is made to order. Ranger does not make any boat that a dealer has not specifically requested. That goes for colors and options as well, no two Rangers are ever really the same.

Good luck.....R

Last year when I purchased my 620 I went down and picked it up for two reasons, one was to try to save $300 but with the expences of two people I didn't save much, the other was time, the dealer said it would be a week or two before he could pick it up so I picked it up for him. But you have to have the dealer aprovel to pick it up. Good luck
