I have been reading a book by Buck Perry called Spoonplugging and was wondering if there where any other books that someone could recommend on fishing structure or walleyes.
Thanks

There is a book for sale in most *****mart type stores simply titled "Walleyes". It's becoming a bit dated in it's references to technology, but the seasonal location, tackle, and boat rigging information still hold up well.
Definitely subscribe to walleye insider and save back issues.
I also benefitted from videos by Kieth Kavajecz and Gary Parsons from Bass Pro, In-fisherman and the older "Masters of walleye" series. Avoid any videos by Stoney Wolf Productions - what a rip-off. I didn't find Babe Winkleman videos very educational either - thank goodness they were only rentals.
Reading and watching videos will greatly accelerate your learning curve. If I had known about these books, mags and vidoes earlier on, I could have spared myself a ton of frustration.

"How to Win the Walleye Game" by Mike McClelland is the standard, imho, for all books on techinique, presentation, finding fish, and COMMON SENSE which isn't so common for us fisherman.... lol.
I recommend this book highly, easy to read, understand, and will improve your fishing immediately. His 50 questions book is pretty good too, you really need to see one of the two - they cover most of the same ground.
I'll still find myself throwing this book into my travel bag now and then for tourneys and trips.
The Roach/Amenrud books are good too, the books Mike puts out for Parsons/Kavejecz, Probst, etc., the Doug Burns and Daryl Christensen books are good if you're into tourney fishing.
Scientifically, the In-Fish books are good, I have a harder time reading and digesting, but they are outstanding.

Moegx,
Author/Outdoor photographer, Mark Romanack, has a few books available. "Catch More Walleyes" is Mark's latest. This book covers it all.
To find out more info, give their office a call:

Mark is also the co-author of Precision Trolling.
Good reading and good fishin'!!
"Lunkers Love Nightcrawlers" is a classic, it was put out by Fishing Facts Magazine and I am still using those basics in my fishing.
Agree with Todd on the McClelland books, I've got both, and they're great, even if the second one rahashes the first a little. I needed a refresher. I also have some old in-fish videos, of Al and Jim's show taped in the early 70's sometime. They weren't all that great as far as learning techniques, but I did learn a lot about how far walleye fishing has come, and it was just neat to watch someone fishing out of a tin 14' lund with a fiberglass rod and catching walleyes one after another. Entertaining anyway. :)

Depends on what you are most interested in learning - i.e. fishing rivers, seasonal movements, trolling, etc. I have to say that I found the Ted Takasaki videos entertaining, but limited on instruction/education. Bass Pro videos by Gary Parsons/Kieth Kavajecz are very educational but mostly focus on trolling. They also fall prey to doing a bit too much advertising in some - still very much worth the money IMHO. I'm partial to the older "Masters of walleye" series by Southside Productions, PO 7458, Omaha, NE 68107 Ph(402)342-5212. I'm not sure they are still in business. My favorite is vol 4 - "River Walleye Tactics" by Keith Kavajecz. All In-fisherman tend to be good too. If you joy the club, videos are $10 a pop - details are in a magazine insert. As I mentioned, stay away from Stoney Wolf Productions - the poorest of all.
It sure seems like there would be a market for some very detailed educational videos.

I am amazed that not one person has mentioned the "Walleye Wisdom" book by the In-Fish folks. In order to understand why you apply certain techniques in different times of the year and in different bodies of water, you need to understand the fish you are seeking and what it's living habits are in different environments. It is alot to digest, but it is in my opinion, the "Bible" of walleye fishing. Once you have the base foundation, read all the other books on presentations and more "on the water" fine tuning and you will gain so much more from them........

Al lindner has two books by that title out. One published in 1985 and one in 1994. Which is the best one to purchase?

Was just thinking about that book and seminars my dad and Grampa
took me too at the old Fishing Facts headquarters in Menomonee Falls. Have a whole box of the Buck Perry spoon plugs in the basement as well! While there is still quite a bit of debate as to the value of IF or W/I magazines, I still remember anxiously awaiting the arrival of each and every issue of these magazines - matter of fact Im looking forward to getting some time tonight to browse the In Fisherman which just arrived today.

I really like the new In-fisherman 'Critical Concepts' books. There are three in the series; 'Walleye Fundamentals', 'Walleye Location', and 'Walleye Presentation'. The first book contains a lot of rehashed In-Fisherman articles, but its still good stuff. Book two is very good, especially the chapter on using pivot points to find fish -- saved my a$$ on one occasion last year. I haven't had time to read much of book three yet.

I have read books by McClelland, Dick Sternberg, Linder boys, "Pro-Mo's Secrets to . . ." by Roach, Jensen, & Amenrud, Babe Winlkelman, Binkelman, Buck Perry, and some lesser known's. Babe's books are my first recommendation. The older ones from the 80's, especially his jig fishing book.
