I have not used him, but an article in the October issue of Waters & Woods concerning guides say that Big Dave Ehardt is the guy to have in the Dells area.

I was told by several sources that Big Dave was Filleting out a limit of 8-10# walleyes at the Terrace Bay on Little Bay DeNoc last weekend. Being second hand info, I usually wouldn't spread it, but I got this from 3 different reliable sources. I have no use for a guide that behaves in this manner.
Have you considered Jumbo Jim? He posts here regularly and I believe that you can reach him through Rivers Edge Resort (608-254-6494).

I don't know who Dave is, but I was at the Terrace last weekend and I used their cleaning room both nights. I can tell you with certainty that there were no carcasses of walleyes over about 3 pounds in the garbage, nor did I see anyone cleaning anything over the 23" slot. I'll be there this weekend too, so if anyone wants to say hi I'm the guy with the blue Champion. Steve W.

Hi
The walleye fishing did pick up recently with the drop in water temperature over the past week and a half. Water levels increased with the rain and snow the past week. The dam was wide open on the weekend. We did well there this past weekend. Several different techniques were producing keeper 'eyes. Mixed in the bag were some keeper sauger too. They were fat for their length. It was great experimenting in different locations and trying different techniques; it did show the fish were quite scattered.
Yes, Jumbojim can be contacted at the river's edge or at home at 608 253 6739 or email at jimtheguide@msn.com
Good luck
Jenn
-oh yeah.....sturgeon were fun catching too despite lindy rigging for walleye at the time...

Wait a minute Dave, you are trying to convince the Walleye Central regulars that cleaning a limit of 8-10 lb walleyes from the Great Lakes is wrong. How dare you! You should be drawn and quartered for that opinion. Please dont preach catch and release on the big ones. Remember, since the Indians gill net way more than the sportfishermen, it is OK to fillet as many big fish as you can catch! Sorry for the sarcasm, Im on your side.
WAZ,you don't need a guide!You know your stuff.The Dell's isn't that tough!Jig,rig or troll big stickbaits.I'm ashamed of you!Did you hire a guide to learn the Chain?
OOC IT'S NOT FOR ME. HAVE A FRIEND WITH NO BOAT NOR GEAR WANTS TO GO UP WITH HIS SON.
Never thought of that.Hey,why don't you take them or at least lend them your boat?

I would like to respond to some accusations being made and settle some rumors that are being passed around. Firts of all, Dave Ehardt is probably the most well known, and the best for that matter, guide in the Wisconsin Dells Area. He is on the water more days per year in that area than anyone else. If you're looking for a guide, he's the one to call. Also, anyone that knows Dave could tell you that the accusations and rumors being passed around are untrue and outright lies. On the Friday night in question, Dave caught 4 fish all night. Two of them were over 23" and RELEASED!!! the other two were under 23 which he cleaned at the Terrace Bay. There was no limit of 8-10 lb. walleyes being cleaned by him or anyone else that night. Dave in MI, you first said that you received the information from two or three other sources and that it was purely second hand, then you came back and said what time he was supposedly cleaning the fish, what time the guts were in the trash, and what boat he was driving. I thought you weren't there!!! AS Steve W. said, there were no 8-10 lb fish in the trash cans- there was nothing over about 3 lbs. on friday or saturday. The next time you decide to spred lies and accusations, trie to slander someone, and send guide business away from them, you better check your facts and make sure you know what you're talking about.
Not trying to argue

But, a limit of walleyesn that big would be dave Filleting 1 fish. If he had a client 2 fish. The slot only allows one fish over 23 inches.
a side point

Jumbo Jim and Big Dave are friends too you know. Both are great guys and both will put your buddy and his kid(s) on fish.
The truth be told

Hey Concerned Fisherman, Where you there that night? The answer to that is NO! Yes there is no question that Dave is a fine fisherman and guide, the best in the Dells area from the people I've talked too! If you want to know the truth give Dave a call, if he's that upstanding a person he'll tell you the truth. I don't know the man personally, the first time I have ever talked to him was Friday afternoon in the cleaning room around 3pm. A beat up old Suburban pulled up and this big guy pulled a cooler out of the back. After putting my stuff away I walked over to see what was caught and I will say that I was very surprised, shocked when I found out the guy's a guide. Yes he did have some very large fish and yes they were being cleaned. Was he over his limit, I don't know, is that his right to do this, if he's with in his bag limit yes, where they even his fish, I don't know. That's my point, call the man if you are that concerned. The only thing he can be accused of is bad judgement. If you are trying to make a living as a guide I would think you would try and remove yourself from any situation that could possibly make you look bad in the public's eyes, standing in a public place cleaning large walleye's would be one of those situations.
THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO. I APOLIGIZE FOR CREATING ALL THE HUB-BUB. MY FRIEND DID GO TO THE DELLS LAST WEEKEND WITH HIS BUDDY AND CAUGHT NO FISH IN TWO DAYS. HIS BUDDY TOLD HIM THAT HE DID NOT NEED A GUIDE BECAUSE HE WAS AN ACCOMPLISHED FISHERMAN.WHY ARE PEOPLE SO PROUD AND IGNORANT WHEN IT COMES TO FISHING. THEY ACT LIKE IT IS DEMEANING TO HIRE THE SERVICES OF A PROFESSIONAL. PEOPLE TAKE GOLF LESSONS, TENNIS LESSONS WHY IS IT SO BAD TO TAKE FISHING LESSONS. DO WE MAKE FUN OF GOLFERS THAT TAKE LESSONS?
