I just bought a 1997 1750 sylvan jon, with a 60/45 merc. I am having a problem with it pulling to the right. The bottom is clean, no dents, but water is splashing against the bottom of the jet inlet and spraying to the left rear of the boat. I can't figure out what is wrong. Any help would be appreaciated.
Thanks,
Jack

I'm not sure why the motor pulls to one side but I do know what you need to keep the water from splashing up in the boat. I have a Lowe Roughneck model 1760 with a 90/65 Evenrude and I had to put an aluminum splash guard mounted just above the jet foot that kept the water from splashing up. It was easy to make. I used a piece of 20 guage aluminum sheet and cut it about 6 inches wide and about 20 inches long then bent it in the shape of an "L" then screwed it to the boat just above the jet foot. I used the same design to make a smaller splash guard for my depth finder transducer. Hope this helps

Is the motor set too low?
A very small amount of spray is noticeable when motor is set correct height.....just deflecting off the "bowl".
Being set too low could also account for the "pull".
Ditto to the other replies, but here's another tip. There are 2 small vertical fins located on the motor exhaust tube. (The actual engine exhaust, not the jet nozzle). You can bend them them left or right to correct a small amount of "pull" to one side or the other. This is explained in my owner's manual for my Merc jet.
Hi Jackj,
I also have a Roughneck w/90/65 jet and had the same problem. It's simple and Ed M hit it right. Just take and bend those little tabs on the exhaust outlet. If pulling to the right, bend them to the left. Hope this helps.
