View Full Version : planer boards
I just got done building a mast. Now I am ready to buy or make me some planer boards (ski type boards). I was thinking about the riviera boards or make my own. Has anybody ran both types of boards do the homemade boards run as well as store bought? Also if I was to buy my boards are the riviera's a good board or what do you recomend.

I have built two different sets of ski type boards. Both have worked well, I use them on Superior but when I fish for walleyes in the bay or inland lakes I use my offshore inline boards. They are just easier to have around.
The boards are easy to make, just make sure you use dry cedar and seal them before use. Let me know if you want more help.
good luck!

Did you checkout the ad for Lures and tackle Supply on the products page? Click on the Fishing Gear link on top of the products page an then on the Lures and tackle logo. Go to their store section and click on Trolling. Scrool down. They have redwood boards and kits/plans to build your own.

I will be attempting to make my own planer boards and Mast. I received a "404 error, site not found" when going to the site you mentioned.

Thanks for all the info on how to build a board. But what I am looking for is if a Riviera board runs good in rougher water conditions or does a homemade board run better. I like the idea of the riviera because of the way it collapses.Does any body have a good way to collapse a homemade board? Has any body ran the riviera boards??????

I went to www.quintefishing.com/make_your_own_dual_planer_boards.htm and had no problem. If you copied the URL from the previous post, the problem is with the "you - r" instead of "your".

I have a pair of Homemake boards and a pair of Superski boards, I prefer my home made ones. Can't speak for Rivieras'.
Build you own over the winter and give them a try. If you don't like them then spend the money on Large cedar boards.
