I have a question on wiring the unit. On mine I have a standard 4 prong outlet in front on the bow mount. There is nothing else there and no other letters on this receptacle and am wondering If I can wire in a 24 volt system to this or not? The trolling motor I am looking at installing is a Minnkota 24V Autopilot 65PB/AP. This trolling motor has only a maximum of 38 amps for draw. I noticed that in the battery box area of the boat, there is only 1 set of wires coming from the front with that being a red/black cable. These cables are going to a 40A circuit breaker, but I cant tell if it is for 12 or 24V. Anyway I am wondering If I can just hook up two 12volt deep cycle batteries in the box to get 24V and attach these cables to it from the 40A breaker and be ok or do I need to rewire the boat for 24V with another set of wires and circuit going to the front of the bow? The 4 prong says can be wired for 12, 12/24, 24V. The 4 prong plug is a Type IV plug from meco-lectro products Inc from Quincy IL. part #10335
