A Friend of mine called tonight, excited about a used boat he had seen. Said it was A Mirro, 97 model with a 60 mariner tiller. All I could say was eehhhhh???? I really haven't really seen or heard much for that matter about them lately. I used to have a 14 footer about 15 yrs ago. Can anyone lend an educated opinion on this? Boat had a minnkota bow mount 24 volt trolling motor, NO electronics at all, and a bunk trailer. 7950 Firm on sign. Don't know the model but he knew it was 74" beam. Thanks, <;{{{{{<<( Mr.Pike

I have a 1995 17.5' mirrorcraft with a 90hp. It's been a good boat and gets alot of use on inland lakes as well as Lake Michigan. I did have some trouble getting it to plane level, but moving the batteries and adding some weight on the opposite side helped.

Sounds like he paid a little to much for it.
But then again I'm not to keen on Mariner outboards either. I Still own an old Mirro-Craft
14ft. mostly used for small water. I love it for it's depth and stability. They don't make Mirro-Crafts like they used to though. I checked out the new line at a local dealer last year. I didn't like the way they were built, Kind of cheap I thought. The prices were about the same on the brand new ones as your friend paid for his 97'it seems. That's my OP.

MrP:

My fishing partner ran a MirroCraft until last year. He was really happy with the boat right up until the end. He had a serious accident with it and it was totalled...BUT...He had a hole in the bottom of the hull that was the width of the lower unit of my 9.9 Johnson Kicker and it was 6' long. He was still able to motor his boat about 1/2 mile until his outboard started sucking water into the carb and it stalled. He then had another boat tow him another 1/2 mile to the launch, all with a large hole. I was very impressed. The other thing that impressed me was that his Raytheon radio worked when he called for help, even though it was 2' under water. That was one well built boat! Good Luck!

P.S. I hit the perch on Poygan Sat and they were really biting!

I can say that the mirro-craft we have is great. We own a 16.5 ft mirro craft "outfitter" We put a 30hp yamaha on it, started with a 40hp, it was too much we couldn't get a good troll. The boat handles big waves extremly well. I've had 5 people in it loaded with all are fishing and duckhunting gear on 4 ft waves. Slow going but the boat handled it extremly well. I don't know about the price though

Thanks you guys! My friend called back tonight and is really P***ed off. The boat is sold.I never saw it but it must have been clean. It sat by the road 1 day and sold. If we all have the same luck when selling, I'll be happy. Thanks again! <;{{{{{<<( Mr.Pike
