I am tyeing my own harneses this year, what size hooks work best, size 4 & 2 seem small should I use 1 or 1/0 and what brands. also, any suggestions on line type & size, is it worth using fireline or floro? thank you

For my trolling harnesses I use #1/0 hooks and make the riggs out of soft wire. With my drifting harnesses, I use #1 hooks and use 12lb test phloro caborn (sp?) line.

so-lucki has it about right I use either 1/0 or 2/0 hooks mustad or eagle claw. For line I use 27# super thin wire only way to go I also buy in bulk on everything I need 500 to a 1000 for blades swivles, clives and so on if you enjoy tiing the cost comes down alot but I also sell my narnesses to alot of friends and so on.

thanks for the input, I don't troll but the light wire sounds like an idea , why don't you use it drifting with bouncers? is it too stiff, heavy...?
I bought #1 mustads and 15 lb. vanish, is there anny special tricks to using floro?

Just make sure you wet the knot real good with flouro.

Bio-Boy,
For my casting harnesses (Weapons) I use Trilene XT 20 lb. test, color green. Hook size #4. Lenght is 15" - 16".
For my bottom bouncers (Drifting) I use the same line but use a #2 size hook closest to the blade, and beads, and then a #4 treble hook on the trailing end. Lenght is 5'.
For trolling I use the light wire and #6 size treble for both of my hooks. Lenght of harness is 14". Good Fishing.
