I would like to buy a new fish finder that shows more fish! I have a hummingbird wide eye and I know it isn't showing all the fish. Does anyone know of a web site that compares the various fish finders or have suggestions? Please email me at datapros@netins.net

Thanks,

John

I NOW USE A BOTTOMLINE TOURNAMENT MASTER SIDE FINDER AND I LOVE IT! THE SIDE FINDER FEATURE PICKS UP ON THE FISH OUTSIDE OF THE BOTTOM PROBING SIGNAL. THE SCREEN IS THE BIGGEST IN THE INDUSTRY.

REGARDLESS OF WHAT UNIT YOU USE OR BUY IF YOUR CONE ANGLE IS AROUND 18 DEGREES (WHICH MOST ARE) YOU ARE ONLY SEEING 1/3 OF YOUR DEPTH. IN OTHER WORDS - IF YOU ARE IN 12ft OF WATER YOU'RE ONLY SEEING A 4ft "CIRCLE" ON THE BOTTOM, LESS DIAMETER AS YOU VIEW "FISH" GOING TOWARDS THE SURFACE. IF YOU ARE IN 30ft OF WATER YOU ARE VIEWING A 10ft AREA ON THE BOTTOM. IN THE SAME CONE AT 30ft DEPTH YOU ARE SEEING ONLY A 5ft CIRCLE AT 15ft OFF THE BOTTOM, A 3ft CIRCLE AT 9ft etc., etc. IT's THE NATURE OF THE BEAST.

I have the same model and I can pick up fish at any depth even close to the bottom with no problem. I can even pick them up while cruising around 15-20mph on a calm day. Check to see how the transducer is mounted. Maybe your not low enough in the water, or you have a feature on the hull that is causing air bubbles that's interfering with the transducer. How long have you had the unit? How do you know that your not picking up fish? Check your settings on the unit to make sure your set to wide angle. Check your sensitivity level also. Sometimes it just takes allot of practice with the unit to get comfortable with what it's telling you.
Good Luck!!
