View Full Version : Tackle box?

Thinking about starting the annual winter tackle tune-up and inventory -- got to figure out what to look for at the fishing shows ;-).

At the Huron outing back in November, I saw a different kind of tackle box specifically designed for minnow style baits like Reef Runners and Thunder Sticks. It was a double sided soft side case with a grid of "slots" to put the lures down into.

Looked like a much better way to keep these kind of lures organized and untangled. My bunch of 3700 boxes work, but the tangled hooks can be a pain.

Been checking around and have not seen them in any of the tackle shops.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? A name, manufacturer, source, and cost? Any other storage ideas are also welcome!

Thanks.

Ryan

Seacat,
I don't know where you live, but the B&B bait Boxes are the way to go. I have 6 and will be getting another soon. I beat them up pretty good and the are tough as nails. I use them for stickbaits, harness, spoons and for flies and dodger on my charter boat. You can see the boxes at The Walleye Expos in Milwaukee and Shakapee and at the Chicagoland show at Rosemont. Hopefully we'll seeyou there, Doug

LAST EDITED ON Dec-30-00 AT 01:01PM (CST)[p]Doug,

I'm in St. Joe, Michigan and have gone to the Rosemont show many times. The few years have been quite disapointing though and had really planned on skipping it.

Any idea if anyone in Michigan handles the boxes or if there are plans to be at any of the Michigan shows? How about Cabelas? -- been looking for a reason to go to the new store in Dundee!

Also, what one to you use for dogers? I checked the WC web page on them and didn't really see one that looks like it would work well. Do the grids remove to create different size compartments?

Thanks Juls for correcting my post. My informant misinformed me and he just received a slight reprimand. }>

The Ripstick fits in the 6" boxes and the Reef Runner Deep Diver fits in the 7" boxes.

A quick question for you Capt. if I could. Will the large Reefrunners fit into the 6 in tackle box? Also do they had indiviual compartments all the way down or do they hang there. I would assume that there is a way to lock them in if they get knocked over. Thanks for the reply. skr
PS. Which one would you recommend for reef runners and similar designed baits?

The ReefRunner will fit in the 6" box (Models 966 or 646 or 326). The Ripstick needs a 7" deep box (Models 987 and New for 2001 the 497.) A tip on the model #'s is the first two numbers are the number of compartments and the last numbers are the depth of the box. The grid compartments are solid all the way down. The baits are locked in place when the cover is closed and zipped. For info on where you can physically see the boxes you can e-mail me at bstandke@vbe.com or to order online go to Walleye Central's products page.

I'm sure Barb meant to say, the Ripstick fits in the 6" box, and the Reefrunners fit in the 7" box...;-)
