I need to know when the Merc Nationals are to be held this year. I checked the link on the tournaments page, but that was last years dates. I have to let the taskmaster Tyrant boss know what days I would like off, and if Ol Hitler feels benevolent enough, I may be allowed to leave the plantation for a weekend.

The Merc is always held the 2nd weekend in June
Okay, so

Would that then be the weekend of the 9th? Or the 15th?
I believe that it will be held the 9th, and Otter Street will be on the 16th. tr

If you DID NOT fish it last year, I would have second thoughts about taking off work, your chance of getting in it are very slim if you did'nt fish it last year.
well, it is worth a shot-

It is first come first served?has always been that way!Where did you get the idea that cause you didnt fish it last year you cant this year?
When I tried to get in last year, I was told that they give preference to people, and teams, that fished it in prior years. Even though I did not fish it last year, I will try again. tr

Tomr,
I don't know who told you that, but it isn't true. A list of contestants is created and a drawing for the available spots determines who fished the tourney and who doesn't. There isn't any preference, to my knowledge, that is given to a contestant who has fished the tourney in the past.

Yes there is a preference if you fished it last year.
Has been for at least 5 years. maybe longer.

Last year if you fished with the same partner as the previous year you had preference. Otherwise it was a lottery drawing. Mercury didn't handle the entries at all. All entries were sent to TFM enterprises and the contestants were drawn by them. It didn't matter if you had fished before or not. I had fished it for the past 14 years and then missed 1 year for a wedding and had to go into the lottery and ended up 40th alternate.
