Ice fishing for the week continues good. We have plenty of ice and snow, and for all purposes, are fully
operational. The Trac-Vans are running, and the snowmobile trail from Kenora has been marked as well.
We had good activity on eating sized walleyes, and quite a lot of small throw backs. No large fish were
caught this week, although some nicer sized fish were reported lost at the hole. One surprise this week
was the perch activity. We caught lots of jumbo sized perch. Some days it got so frantic, only one rod
could be used. We also saw good sauger action, and some larger that normal sized fish caught.
No special presentation worked substantially better than others. The fish were active enough to eliminate
the need for a plain hook. Probably the best presentation was a #3 Jigging Rapala tipped with a minnow
head. This worked well for perch also. The same shallower depths (20 to 22 feet) as last week seemed to
be the ticket.
The weather has been beautiful. The week stared out with lows just below zero, but ended up with highs
in the upper 20's. This lured a lot of snowmobilers out for the weekend.
