I am going to Ontario this August and am looking at staying at Goose Bay Camp near Ear Falls. Anyone have any comments on what to expect when I get there? I have never fished Ontario before, but hear the walleye, pike and muskie fishing is phenominal! What baits/lures should we use at this time of year? Where will most of the fish be? Thanks!

We stay at Goose Bay every year. It really is a good value in a vacation destination. I have never been there after June, so I cannot comment on that time. We had good luck near Lunker Point and the submerged timber in the river channed adjacent. We have had best luck with a small hook and splitshot with 1/2 crawler. As for pike, they are everywhere and should be easy to catch in August on your usual baits like daredevils and bucktail spinners. Good Luck!

I forgot about musky...I have never seen one near Goose Bay. I understand that the fishing for them is outstanding on the Eastern portion of the lake. It is a LONG boat ride from GB, I don't think you would even try to goto musky areas by boat.

We've fished lac seul 9 years. mostly ice out and last year July. Fish more east than ear falls out of sioux lookout. Make sure you have good maps!! lots of rock and reefs. Navigating sometimes tricky. remember red marker on right going upstream green on left. Reverse for downstream. Usually fish jigs 1/4 to 3/8 green, black. also use lindy rigs, nickle. Make sure you have plenty of tackle lots of snags possible. Have plenty of gas if you go exploring. great fishing!!!!!

I have fished that area extesively for the past 20 years. I would bring at least three rods and reels and also a compass on the boat. Don't be afraid of exploring area lakes as the locals will tell you of some fabulous fishing from a drag in or hike in lake. In August the bugs won't be as bad as July or late June but they get bad at darik for sure.
I would start out at 15 to 20 feet and work deeper in the middle of the day and shalower toward dark or overcast skies I like mister twister for bait, if minnows aren't available.
Keep a tight line

I HAVE FISHED THE LAKE FOR MANY YEARS, ONLY IN EARLY JULY. I LIKE FINDING LARGE WEED BEDS THAT GO OUT TO 12' AND FISH THIS EDGE. LAKE IS VERY DANGEROUS WITH THE ROCKS COMING RIGHT UP FROM NOWHERE.MAKE SURE YOU TELL RESORT WHERE YOU INTEND TO FISH IN CASE OF TROUBLE!LET US KNOW HOW THE FISHING WAS IN AUGUST.
