I was thinking of vacationing and fishing there the third week of August next summer. How is the walleye fishing that time of year. Any tips, locations would be appreciated. What is the best time of year for the most consistent walleye fishing. Thanks

In reply to your question August fishing can be fairly predictable as most fish are in their typical summer haunts. For walleyes early morning and late evening usually are best but Ive seen that rule broken by our guests many times.Your questions answer could be discussed for hours and if you would like a detailed answer feel free to call me at 847-971-0505 anytime as I can talk a lot better than I can type! August can be some really good fishing times for all species of fish. Walleye's always attract many anglers to the Bay de Noc waters and August is a pretty good walleye month. Methods that work best are jigging and rigging live-bait, trolling spinner harnesses over the deeper water basin areas spread out with planer boards. The night bite can be good also casting and working upper end reefs and weedbeds after dark.
August is also a great month for super Smallmouth Bass fishing and northern pike fishing. Gaint pike are present throughout the heavy green weedbeds and never get fished much.
Commonly called the "dog-day's" of summer August can be a great fishing month!
Hopefully this helps you out, Marty......
