I am looking for an up to date report on the ice conditions and the fishing on Bay De Noc. Thinking about a trip up there on the weekend of the 22nd. Any information (lodging, access, and bait) would be helpful since none of us have never been there before. Thanks in advance.

Full moon phase! Good weekend. Bayview Bait 906-786-1488. Call Janet/Frank at Shorewood Motel, right across from Kipling launch, 906-428-9624. We were there after Christmas and had to access the Bay from the Vagabond Resort 906-474-6122. They are on the northeast side of the bay. Hyw.2 to 513, right and down about 3 miles. He rents cabins and it's a good place to access. Head south to the area near the 50'hole, with the underwater point that has about 2' of water on top. Stay away from Hunters point due to currents. We usually fish 40'to 44' of water. Use #7 and #9 Jigging Rapala's (chrome blue is good) Swedish pimples and Whistler jigs and Airplane jigs tipped with a Shinner minnow is a good bet! Electronics is a must. Look for suspended fish that will come in at 30' to 35' feet down.
