I am planning a trip to the Pentwell flowage the weekend of 2/5-6. Am looking for information on lodging and fishing reports. Maybe the names of bait shops and motels in the area. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

Went to Petenwell the weekend before last. We fished the Barnum Bay area, Longview point (probably the two most popular places on the flowage, due to the structure and the convergence of the river channel, and near Petenwell County Park on the last morning. Action was pretty slow at all three locations. We caught quite a few small walleye, but nothing legal. Pretty much the same story from the other guys. On the first day, the party nearest us, near Barnum Bay, but pretty much out from the Hideaway restaurant did the best that I heard of, with a 22, 17, 15 inch walleyes, a 37" northern and an assortment of crappie, white bass and one catfish. A couple of bait shop numbers for you:
Nekoosa, Freemans bait: 1-715-886-3541
" Joe's Bait: 1-715-886-4932
Another bait shop with possibly more information would be Petenwell Sports, but I don't have the number; just call 715 information. (Some of the guides use this place)

If I had to guess, I would probably go back to the place on Barnum Bay near the Hideaway restaurant, but I have no idea what has happened in the past two weeks. They are undoubtedly driving on by now, as there was about 14" of ice two weeks ago.

Good luck!
