I am planning on fishing out of Catawba St. Park on Wednesday and was wondering if the ice will still be safe with this warm up. Thanks Ryan

Ryan the ice should be in real good shape still Weds. I 've gotten reports from 8" to 20" so there's plenty of ice. The wind will be more of a factor than anything. Good luck and stay safe

Ryan,
Fished out off Catawba State Park this afternoon. Have good 10-12" of ice, and good clarity. Had two good hits and missed whatever it was. Partner also missed one and we figured they might have been perch or ? Did notice a small current pulling my line to the Northeast, not sure what that was about as I had never fished Erie throught the ice before.
I also talked to three anglers who were set up north in about 32' of water and they didn't catch any either. They said they had a fish finder and marked fish.
Be careful out there and good luck. Let us know how you did.

The current you experienced is always there at Catabwa. Strength depends mostly on the winds. The shallower the water is the more you need to worry.....that's why lots of guys are cautioning getting on the ice near Mouse Island reef. Most of the western basin has some current but Catabwa is concentrated because of the bottleneck between there an the islands. Good luck and stay safe.
