I've never used one, but based on basic knowledge of the snowmobile industry, it won't be a quality sled. I'm sure it's fast, but if people liked it riding it, then it wouldn't have been discontinued.

Its now the MountainCat and the ThunderCat. Same body suspension, seat, handles, as the WildCat, just a new paint job and a bigger improved motor. Tooling changes were slight for the current model sleds, but based on the WildCats original winning design.

I have ridden the WildCat and loved it. Ride was, well...WILD yet wild! Actually, it was smooth on the trails and outrageous on the lakes. Pricey at its intro, but very popular with the "muscle" sledders.

Artic Cat put an enourmous amount of R&D into the Wildcat and furtherd that R&D into the Thunder and their racing X series. The only thing you have to watch for when looking for a used WC is that is was not beat to pieces by a rich kid! Other then that, they are great sleds with good handling. I like Cat, but my fav is Doo.

Try AMSNOW.com in the Arctic Cat Forum. they are usually very helpful.

Maybe we aren't thinking about the same snowmobile. Didn't the wildcat use a two cylinder engine? Thundercat uses a three.

The Thunder started as a dual jug and went to a triple a few years later. But I said that it is the same except for a bigger motor. :-) Production reeds were first introduced in the WildCat and moved to the Thunders and the other triples after performance was proven.

At the time the Wildcat was being made it was the top of the line for Actic Cat, it was their biggest and fastest sled. As times changed and sleds got bigger it was dicontinued and replaced with the Thundercat, the reason for the triple cylinder engine was simply because of size and pure speed. Actic Cat still uses the 700 c.c. engine and in fact used it in their ZR 700 last year. It is a very reliable and strong running engine and you can't go wrong with one. The biggest problem they had with Wildcats was when they first experimented with EFI and put it in the Wildcat it failed miserably at the time, this was the sled that gave Wildcats a bad name.
