When you connect 2 12 volt batteries pos. to pos. & neg. to neg. to get higher Ah with a 12 volt output, is that series or parallel?

If you connect them in series, you will end up with 24 V.

The batteries are connected series "bucking" which means opposing instead of adding 12+12 to get 24 volts you actually get 12 volts or lower

If you connected the batteries positive from one battery to the other battery's negative then hooking the other remaining terminals to the "load" this would be called series "bucking" in which the sum of the two batteries voltages would be opposed instead of added equaling 12 volts or even less.

THE REASON FOR HOOKING BATTERIES IN PARALLEL IS IS TO MINIMIZE THE CURRENT DRAIN AND GET MAX. AMOUNT OF POWER FOR A LONGER PERIOD. A BUCKY SERIES CIRCUIT WAS USED ORIGANNLY WHEN THEY DID NOT PRODUCE 24V MARINE BATTERIES( OR ATLEAST THEY WERE NOT COMMON)nOW OFCOURSE THEY MANUFACTURE 24V TROLLING MOTORS THAT OFCOURSE ARE MORE EFFICIENT THAN A TRADITIONAL 12V MOTOR!
