'The sale of all dangerous knives is restricted in New Jersey, New York, Michigan, California, and Illinois A dangerous knife is defined as a knife that has blade of 5" or overall length of 10" or more.' This warning is attached to an electric fillet knife in the newest Bass Pro catalog! Maybe registration of your fillet knife is next. And I thought I was only dangerous while running my CNC machine at work.

Ya, and a 4 inch blade wont kill ya or cut ya either! It just means your assailant has to work a little harder. I love feel good do nothing crap laws like this one! Gee, isn't stabbibg someone Illegal already? by making certain length knives Illegal to be sold, does it make the crime really, really bad? I am gona move to the nearest border and set up a Kitchen knife shop. Imagine the business from everyone in the states listed, I will be a millionaire!

So they can now tell you what you can and cannot buy, blade wise? This is good.....yah sure. I know that there are those places that will sell you a longer blade in those states. One place has a mail/e-mail order shop and they sell blades up to 45" and an over all length of over 55"! Granted, you're looking at a battle ready Claymore sword, not often needed or carried by most folk these days. Still, they are available to anyone who has a credit card and a mailing address. There are several such blades in my collection. 14" dirk, 4" Sagin Dugh, 38" (blade) two handed broad sword, etc. All purchased from an New York address/business. Go figure.

Gilligan, aren't you the most dangerous in your car? If I recall you have run a few creatures over lately. Sorry if I'm mistaken, but...I thought I recall a few deer and maybe a bear. Could be someone else on the board...

It's a good thing they outlawed electric knives. I hear there are outlets in New York subways and an assailant would have a good 6' radius in which to do his handiwork.

Seriously, what exactly does "Restricted sale" mean? Can anybody from one of the afflicted states enlighten me?

Dangerous people may be there problem, EH?

A weapon could be a Nerf ball if some nut jam's it down someones throut?

I wonder how many 7-11's were robbed in NY with a Samiri sword last year, or a fillet Knife even?

If one is caught with a concealed, unlicensed chainsaw, they could be in deep fecal material.
When chainsaws are outlawd, only outlaws will have chainsaws.

Living in the middle of this fiasco is no funny matter.

Heres the one that gets me:

Bows of any type must have the string removed or broken down. It is also illegal to discharge a bow within city limits. Dang, that means I gotta move my tree stand outta central park then :)

Beleave it or not I was ordered to drop my hockey stick one time, with the excuse that it was for both mine and his saftey! (I was beening checked for proper ID, another offence that will get you arrested) Here if you make eye contact with a cop he'll bust yer chops.

Any object that can be used as a weapon will be judged so, and if welded in such fashion, will be delt with severe punishement (The cops WILL shoot you on the spot) Good thing they havn't checked my tackle box yet!!

NYC SUCKS

crash, here's a little story from my high school days:

I lent a buddy $10 when we juniors in h.s. he took his time paying me back and i stayed on him, so he would pay me back. one day he said i don't have $10, so how about if i give you a springfield 20 Ga. single shot shotgun instead. i said sure without giving it a second thought. the next day we met in the parking lot at school and walked from his car to my car(100 yds away) with the gun(uncased). just when we got to my car and before i could open my trunk, one of our teachers saw us and walked over. "what are you guys doing?" the teacher asked. i explained our arrangement and the teacher said "let me see the gun." i handed him the gun, he then proceeded to look it over. "looks like you got yourself a pretty good deal here", said the teacher as he handed my gun back to me, which i quickly locked in my trunk. then we all went on to our classes, end of story.

i still have the gun today and it just shows how much our world has changed since 1981. this was a small country school and not NYC, which make a huge difference, but it's still quite a contrast to what would happen today.

2 brothers here now age 85 and 87 grew up trapping to buy their school clothes. Trapped to school and trapped home. They carried either a .22 rifle or pistol. When ariving at school the pistol went in the desk and the rifle in the coat room. Wonder how that would go over today?

My stepdad was relating a simmalar story to me once how he would take his 20 gauge to school so he could hunt grouse and rabbits to and from school on his 3 mile walk up hill both ways through the snow. LOL He said he set it in the coat room and there was never anything said about it nor was it touched by anyone during the day. This was in a small rural northern MN town and he is 73 years old.
This is no way condoning firearms at school or the loss of life that has happend because of kids that do not respect laws and rules.

These kind of posts make me realize how good it is in the Dakota's. If you don't have a Buck knife on your belt and a couple of gun's hanging in the window of your truck you're either a PETA lover or you just moved here from New York. They do have signs asking you to check all of your weapons at some of the bars. But law enforcement officials don't seem to be too shook up about the open display of firearms or knives. It's just the way it is.....and I like it that way...:)

That reminds me of my 9th grade biology class in a small northwest ND high school. (guess thats an oxymoron). Anyway, the teacher has a federal firearms license and was always talking about the guns he has. Many days about 2:30pm (thats when the ups man shows up), the office would call down and tell him the ups man was here with a package. Man he would light up like a kid on xmas morning and scream, "my new gun is here" and he'd run to the office in the middle of class and get it. He would come back and he always had to open it and show all of us. That was so cool. Now days if you get caught with one in a locked car in the parking lot your toast. Somewhere over the years they have forgotten that the guns don't kill, the person shootin it does.
