The northerns are biting in the back bays on smelt. A friend caught 5 in the 10 lb. area and l that weighed 22 lbs. today. Most were caught in 12-20 feet of water. The big one got away. Walleyes have been a little slower in most areas. The creeks ran water and dirtied up the water a little. There has'nt been too many people out lately and they are calling for temps in the upper 50's and lower 60's for the next 5 days.It might make it a problem in some areas just getting on the ice. Quite a few ling are being caught throughout the lake. If you go out be careful.

When do you usually start fishing from boats on Peck? Is mid-march too early?

The ice is usually off around the first of April. Last year it was about a week early and this year it has been even milder, so I would think the ice will be gone around the 20th of March. You can get updates on the conditions and fishing reports by going to http://ifishfortpeck.com
