Sunday I was fishing in the Columbia river on the Washougal reef for Steelhead in 20 feet of water. I kept marking suspended pods of 5-10 fish in different sizes. I was wondering if they could have been Walleye. I switched to a Walleye spinner and worm rig. I tried to drift the area, but had trouble controlling my speed. Every time I ran back to the top of the drift I would mark different pods in different areas. Could I get some information, or advice to see if I was on the right track.

I wouldn't think that they are walleyes. The reef has a pretty strong current at times, and at this time of year I think the eyes are a little deeper and looking for a little more of a current break. The reef tends to be a sept/oct spot. I'm not ruling it out but it would be a long shot, IMHO.

Out in Oregon Land where the walleyes grow bigger and nobody fishes for them :-)

Thanks for the information Dan. I will try to get more information about the area, and times the Walleye might be there. I may have been getting bogus readings on the finder, but I marked something too many times to not ask questions. Again thanks!
