I am planning a trip to the Wisconsin river at Nekoosa this coming weekend. What is the water level like? How are the boat landings? Is the water up so that you don't have to back off of the concrete ramp in order to launch your boat at either landing?

Here's the post i put on for other guys on Sunday.

Sun evening.

Fished the river at Nekoosa Sunday afternoon--about 4 hours. Water temp is 41 degrees. Took 2 16" males--caught about 20 smaller males. Not much current today--not much coming through the dam. Water level is decent--probably down a foot or two--not bad. Caught eyes in 2-4 feet of water over gravel and rock -all fish caught above the main landing in town from the park back to the landing. Drifted using jig and power grub--vertical jig.
Other fishermen said they were catching mostly small males--a few keepers mixed in. many fishermen are fishing the near mouth of the river near the Pete for bigger females that have been staging for the run up the river.

As far as bait shops--I'd try Freeman's in town. Ask for directions in town. There's another bait shop right on the river just south of the park-on the way to the city landing. Landings are in good shape right now.
If you're not familiar with the river or have forgotten remember to get info on rock bars on the river--especially below the city landings. Lower units have been lost by unsuspecting boaters on the river. Seeya on the river this weekend. I have a black and grey Lund 1900 W/200 Optimax.
Be careful and Fill the livewell.
