Please don't get excited in the wrong way. I'm referring to the products coming from Germany under D.A.M. manufacturing. Has anyone tried their new spinning reels ? They are supposed to be comparable to the higher end Shimano products Without all that cost). Please let me know what you think of any newer model of reel or other equipment you might have from those D.A.M. Germans.
Take care Pardner

Great stuff the D.A.M. reels are. In fact after some try outs with their reels this past fall, I will be switching over to them for the most part. Smooth and tough with a great price.
I'm hooked!

I tried a D.A.M. LTi Microlite this year for ice fishing and it's a great little reel. I'll be replacing several Deadbolts and Stradics with D.A.M.s this spring. www.tacklecanada.com seems to be the only online outlet for these reels, and you can take advantage of the US/CAN$ exchange rate, too.
When I saw the title, I thought you were referring to Hans! ;-)

Another source for the DAM products is "www. rodreel.com."
This shop is located on the out skirts of Fort Frances Ont.
He ships anywhere and his prices are very good.
While on the topic of DAM. I must say there monofilament called "Tectan" is fantastic. I found this product to be way ahead of the other products I have tried. I am using 11 lb which has the same diameter as 6 lb trilene XL. I see Cabela's also sell it, but I now buy it by the bulk to offset the price which is more than the others.
As a child I remember my old DAM quicks, that are the only reels that I have left from that period 30 years ago. I have often pondered to what happened to DAM, until they started to show up recently around my neck of the woods. These are very good products and I believe they are the best investment for my hard earned dollars anyway you slice it.

I have used the D.A.M. Quick reels for about 10 years. They are very durable and versatile. Have two of them and multiple spare spools, can quick change color and line weight plus different weight rods. Maybe some day mine will be collectors items as the were made in "West" Germany.
