We are considering a 4 day trip to Saginaw Bay the first week of August. Is this a good time to fish the bay? We are also considering staying in Au Gres when we are there. Is there good launches and lodging in Au Gres. Any information you could supply me would be great. Thanks in advance.
au gres has a nice motel off 23 when you just get into town.
over the bridge (on 23) and turn right( directions from motel)
and there is a nice launch site.
tip: try small charity island just before dark. have had good luck there in the past, but becareful of the rocks and water level. it gets shallow in there.

The Michigan Walleye Tour will be holding a tournament on Saginaw Bay out of AuGres the first week of July. If you want to contact me right after that I will be glad to share my info on location, presentation, and lodging etc.

Saginaw Bay in August should provide some exceptional fishing for walleyes. If you plan on staying in the Au Gres area be sure to make your reservations early in the year to ensure that you will have a place to stay. I dont think you will be able to find a place if you try to book latter in the year just before your trip. The basic presentations at that time of year should be a trolling bite with spinner rig/crawler harnesses (Large #5-8 blades) or hot-n-tots. The area arround the Charities, The "Steeples" out beyond the Islands and the deep water off of AuGres would be excellent starting points. Hope you have a good trip.

that time of year i would plan on linwood and bay city to stay. fishing the past few years has been better and more consistant on the inner bay. you can e mail me and i'll give you the scoop.
if you're not catching them two on aline something is wrong. ask frank!
I see alot about Bay City and Linwood for August.
If you are staying in Au Gres, it's a great time.
I have a Tournament in July on that water, but I have been fishing it for over 10 years, that exact area, and know a few Captains right out of Au Gres.
If you contact me immediatly after that MWT Tournament I will have no problem giving you the scoop of what's going on.
Usually big fish, and usually lots of them. Weather permitting.

This a great time to fish Saginaw Bay. Augres is a Great place to stay. You can use camp grounds or motels and there are places to buy tackle if needed. You must make sure of the boat launch water depth. As any place on the great lakes water level is the most important thing to consider. The fishing and weather seem to be good the month of July and the first part of August. Good Luck
