Has anyone fished the Illinois River since this past weekend's MWC tournament? I am planning on going out on Saturday and was curious if anyone is still picking up fish or if they are already spawned out. Locations would be appreciated.

Hey Pro-V, my son and I fished the Illinois River today for 10 hours. We launched at Spring Valley and went up to Negro Creek area after hearing the results of the contest last weekend and within 5 minutes, my son jigged up a nice 3.4 lb sauger. Then nothing the rest of the day. We tried the clam beds, the entrance to spring lake, the flats at peru and the boat club. We did manage to catch 20 nice aggressive white bass and spent the last two hours of the day focused on them. If you want to fish white bass, make sure to consider taking along a #5 natural color shad rap. My son outfished me 16-0 with his shad rap. I tried all kinds of other presentations and the shad rap was the best. We also ran into Buster who was also fishing white bass if that tells you anything. Good luck and hope this helps.
