I'm curious to see how many Walleye Central visitors are members of the NPAA, and what they think of the idea of a Members Tourney.

Personally, I think it's pretty cool that they would do this for all 1000 members. My first thought was that they would only take the top 100. (Pros fishing the PWT circuit). When I found out it is all 1000 members, I couldn't help but think it was a great gesture on the big boys parts to include all members.
I just think this could be one "heck" of a tourney! One that would have undertones of cammeraderie(sp?) and pride. Sounds like fun to me!
Wonder where it's going to be? Where could you have that many fishermen launching from? I realize that there wouldn't be all 1000 members fishing, but there's a good chance that there would be a lot of entries.

I can't wait to hear some details...;-)

The idea of a members tourney has got to get everyones interest peaked. It would be a great place to get to know some of the other members.

It could also be a great stepping stone for someones fishing career.

P.S. I'd like to see it on a lake different than the lakes the PWT normally fish, hmmmm, how about Lake Winnibigoshish (winnie), 69,000 acres of prime walleye water.

ERIE would be great, Saginaw Bay, but all 1000 I think is not possible. But a lottery partner deal or a 3 man team draw 3 days.
Who knows.

Juls,

A NPAA tournament is a great idea. If I fish only one a year this would be the one i'd want in on. If anyone could pull off a tourny of this magnitude it would be the likes of Parsons and the staff at the NPAA. I know that 1000 boats take a lot of room at a launch site. Is it possible that all 1000 members will want to fish? Sounds like quite an undertaking. Maybe we could have a East and a West with a Third tourny for the top finishers. Just my thoughts. I am anxiously awaiting more info. NPAA member #529.

I think it's realistic that you could get 200 of the NPAA members to fish it, depending on where and when it is held, entry fee, etc., etc. And depending on whether it's a team or a pro-am. I'm very intersted to see what they come up with. I hope they choose not to do it on a water that is regularly fished by the PWT, MWC, etc.

Fish-on,

You bring up some interesting points. I am also interested to see which format is choosen. I personally would like to see a Pro-Am type format. I am also hoping like xxxx that it is close to home and falls at the end of one of my pre-choosen weeks of vacation. There are some good lakes in my area that have not been fished by the PWT. Winnie is one and Vermillion would be another. Rainy is another good body of water that has not been fished by the PWT in a long time. It will be interesting to see the response by the members, as well as by the Industries Manufactures. I should think that they would be standing in line to sponsor such an event. It is going to be interesting.
Of the soon to be 1000 members I wonder how many are mainly Walleye anglers, how many are Musky, and how many are Bass guys.
Any stats on that Charlie? Maybe it should be a multi species deal but only fish for one declaired species. Just some thoughts.

Catch A Big One!

I'm a little surprised by your post Juls. I would bet almost everyone in the NPAA is a "Pro", but only 100 get the invite to the inner circle. I for one have thought thal ALL members should be listed on the we site, and am glad they are doing this. That said, I would love to fish a tournament with all of the other NPAA members whom I have not had the pleasure to meet yet!

I think the N.P.A.A Tournament is an excellent idea.
Not only to keep member interest high, but expose it to more people.

I agree on the point of some "different" water. Winnie would be good, depending on the setup of teams and such. If a huge field you woul need a place like Green Bay, Saginaw Bay, or Lake Erie.
Lake Macatawa in Michigan would be a great place to have one as well. And if you wanted to go along some lines of fishing "familiar" water you could always do somewhere on the Mississippi or Missouri Rivers.

Well I'll stop going on about that.

Once again I think it is a great idea, and will plan to be there, wherever and whenever it is.

Juls:
I never did find that rod you lost at the MWC on the Illinois
River.....I think it was down by the clam beds , but thats a
different story. Getting all the NPAA members together for a
fishing event would be more than i could imagine.
I would be there for sure , but if just half the members showed it would be something that would require alot of preparation to pull off!
I would love to fish a tourney with so many people that are
fishing for the same reason I'am , " The Fun of catching Fish"
Thats what got me fishing in the first place.
My Dad is gone now , but if it was'nt for his wanting me to have fun catching fish , I don't think i would be going all over
the country "having fun".

Marshall, I don't know if you've ever fished Macatawa or not but I'd like to know where you're going to launch 200 or more boats. I'd also like to tell ya that unless it's a fall tournament, say October, It's an awfully tough bite for average size fish. I fish the tournament series on this lake and nobody brings a limit to the scales. Until the big gals return from Lake Michigan in the fall this lake SUCKS.
I agree with the idea to fish a place not on the Normal tournament schedules but I would strongly urge you not to suggest this "mud hole" to anyone. I'd rather see'um go somewhere that they could catch a lot of fish and cull a respectable limit. NO slot limits or NO CULL waters. Just your five best fish vs. everyone else's five best fish for the whole day of fishing.
P.S. If you ever do get over here, I'm in the book. Call me and I'll give you my latest information.

WOW!!!

Its impressive to see the response that has followed Gary Parsons leak on the NPAA tournament. The truth is that he might have let the word out just a little bit early. I see in this thread numerous questions about format, locations and specifically about the mechanics of 1000 members fishing a tournament.

While I am not at liberty to divulge much at this time I think it would be prudent to touch on the size of the event. It would be wonderful to have an event that included all of the NPAA memebrs at one time. However, there are several reasons why we will not be able to have one event encompassing all members at once. At our recent board meeting we discussed what might be reasonable to expect given all the factors at hand. First, it is likely that a portion of our membership will choose not to participate. Second, the size of the event is likely to be prescribed, in part, by local game and fish agencies. Third, the body of water will also determine how many boats can fish together in harmony. The board has taken all of these factors into consideration and decided on a size that will allow as many as feasible to participate. I really can't say much more at this time but rest assured we are building an event that will allow participation by as many of our members as possible.

Keep your ears open. More news should be coming soon.
