I just got a CVS-106 myself and will be using this year. My understanding is that you cannot read it in direct sunlight. The thing comes with a sunscreen hood so I am sure that will help. Heck, I have been using a flasher all my life so I am use to it. I recently asked the same question as you did and got some response. The big negative is that you cannot read it in direct sunlight, but the positives seem to outwieight the negatives. search the archives and you should find what little is there. I also ordered a video on how the thing functions, perhaps you might be interested in viewing it. Let me know. meat@execpc.com

I've use a 106 for 2 years and it is awesome- shows bottom huggers when other finders don't know there is a fish in the area. Is really tough to see in sunlight, but mine's tucked under a hardtop so it is easy to see. I don't know how it would do in the sunlight, even under the hood.
