I would like to plan my first crappie and walleye trip to Rathbun this weekend. How's the fishing? Any advise on where to stay, bait shops and where to start fishing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have been to Rathbun quite a few times and have some suggestions: Where to stay- I like the Buck Creek Cabins a bunch. They're in the Rathbun/Moravia area for phone number and are located across the road from Buck Creek Marina. Bait shop- Try The Lighthouse Bait and Tackle or Dam Site B&T.Where to fish- I always start in Honey Creek...it's got everything a crappie needs.Could be crowded there so try Ranger Point or Crappie Cove..Doubt if they're spawning yet so I'd remain mobile..Try fishing a 3 way with a dropper weight and a small jig/tube or twister with a minnow..Doubt if I would anchor and bobber fish yet..Good luck and tight lines,
