Just thought it would be interesting to see where everyone's going fishing next Saturday (Wisconsins opener). Me? I'll be fighting the crowds on the Prairie River searching for that elusive 22" brown Trout! You?

I've rented a motel room at Birch Point resort, on Nelson Lake, by Hayward. We'll be staying there one night, and fishing Sat. and Sunday. My wife is really looking forward to it. No kids, no cell phone, fishing, and her and I all alone...Hmmmm
:-)

I'm leaning toward staying at home and fishing Lake Mendota or possibly Lake Wisconsin (which is already open). If I was going north, it would be the Turtle Flambeau or the Willow Flowage. I am sure both will be very busy with trailer parking at least a mile down the road.

Six of us will be headed up to St. Germain. Hope the fishing will justify the 6 hour ride and even if fishing is bad, it will be good to get back on the water.

Traditionally, I find the southern lakes of Wisconsin to be more productive for the openner. I say this after spending 15 years heading up North. This weekend I'll be pursuing muskie on Pewaukee Lake. This is something you can't do in Northern Wisconsin for another month.

I am going to Vilas County Lake. All summer long, the fishing reports keep talking about it. I keep hearing about all the big Walleye and Musky that come out of that lake. Now if I can only find it ;-)
I'll second Nelson Lake!
Spent the opener on Nelson every year for at least the last 15. Stay at the deer shack and eat walleye. Some years are super but can say i have never had a bad opener on Nelson. Fish the wood and move. Good Luck.

Hey Lundman! When you are fishing Nelson Lake...try the area called "eagle nest" in the narrows...we always did very well there. JM

I was trying to be funny...guess I will keep my regular job. If you notice any fishing reports of big fish, for location they say "Vilas Co Lake". Good Luck!

I`ll still be fishing the Mississippi river. The walleye fishing is still good. I`ve been catching 20 bass a day. And with the inland season opening the pressure will be decreasing. If there were muskies throughout the river system, I don`t think I`d fish anywhere else. Walleyes, saugers. smallies, BIG bluegills, you can`t beat it.
Taking my three year old daughter and her friend to Delavan. I don't think my wife would be up for me driving them up to the Willow Flowage - oh well.
Best Regards,
FJH
Plan on being on my hometown lake of the Chetek chain. ****, I caught 4 walleye there a couple of weekends ago fishing for crappie. Now let's see if I can get 'em to bite when I'm fish'n for 'em.

10-4 Lund_Dude. Hey, by the way I can't believe I got my boat back this afternoon. They said it had some plastic shavings in the fuel pump. Must have been in the tank from factory. So now I have to update my plans. I'll be at home on good old Pike lake in Marathon Co. ( I mean Vilas co.) Have a great weekend <;{{{{{<<( Mr.Pike

Going to try to get all the way up to the dam this weekend on the Fox river in depere. Maybe there will be a few walleyes left up in the current. Going to bring waders to get the boat up to the lines.

Woohoo! That 125 is a tank! I doubt that I will try to qualify for RLC this year. I may fish the USFA or WWA if I get on a bite and they have openings, otherwise no big tourneys for me. My local lake has a bar tourney every Wednesday night. That will do for my competitive spirit this year. Good Luck to you!

KELLY ISLD. LAKE ERIE FOR WALLEYE, HOPE WE FIND SOME.
Is that the same Pike lake that is attached to Round Lake? My Grandparents had a place on Round Lake back in the 70's and I always had a great time up there. Is Coles Point Resort still open? How's the fishing been the last few years? Thanks
MR.Pike

Bob, This has a two part answer! No, The Pike lake I live on is in Marathon co. (central part of state) But I do have a cottage about 2 miles from the Pike/Round chain in Price co. Built it two years ago. The fishing is good in the chain for walleye, smallmouth, and muskie. As for as Coles resort, ???? I don't recall seeing that name around the area. Maybe they sold to someone else? Worst part of going to the cottage is having to come home!!! LOL I'll be going up friday afternoon. Take care, <;{{{{<<( Mr.Pike
