Haven't seen any posts on sturgeon bay fishing this past weekend and was curious if everyone had a poor weekend or if people are afraid to post after all the negative chatter last week. I was out there all weekend and we only caught two northern and one walleye. It was very tough but we had a GREAT guide half of our time out there. He really worked hard, answered all the tough questions and showed us some very good spots for future trips when the fish are cooperating. We just didn't hit the timing right. We were between spawn and post-spawn. My hat goes off to Reel Action Charters and Scott Gutshow. I'll be using his knowledge and expertise in the future. How did those of you who took advantage of Dale Stroschein's offer do? I saw a **** of a lot of boats out there saturday night when the lake finally laid down but saw no fish being caught.

I was part of "Dale and Cindys" group and I can tell you the comraderie was great and we ate well... Fishing was kinda tough, my partner won a $70.00 net for reeling in a fish from my boat, on my gear, and on the board I put out!! I left the room to use the facilities and he collected the gear.... Just kidding, Dave deserved it just for putting up with me for 3 days. We caught 1 eye and 2 pike in 21/2 days/nights of fishing. Our buddy, the famed Wolf River guide Doc, came back to the spot we left at 1:00AM Sunday morning and found a 1:30 to 2:30 window of opportunity and slammed 4 over 10#s. Same bait, same place and technique, right time. Rats!
That water is incredible, clear down 22 feet.
Sunday, during a bright sunny afternoon Dave and I were using the bow mount to come back into the launch at the shallow Potowotami Park and in 3 foot of water, on a bright afternoon, a big old walleye swam right under our boat. Conventional wisdon would have put that rascal out in 40' of water during that time of day and sunlight. I guess he was flipping me the fin. Appropriate.
Thats my report and I'm stickin to it.

Thanks for the pat on the back. Flattery will get you everywhere Jimbo. Actually we got our first fish around 1AM and our last on in the boat around 4AM. We had other fish on, but even the ones we boated were lightly hooked. I guess being a night owl pays off sometimes as we were the ONLY boat out there. Everyone left too early. Moon rise was at around 2:45 that morning and the period surrounding the rise of the moon is what we bet on. Once the moon came up over the tree line the bite shut off.
Maybe it was the moon or the lack of other boats but it sure paid off.
Keep in touch pardner and thanks for the commercial but "famed Wolf River Guide"? Hey, I'm just a lucky guy and friends like you are one reason why. Anytime Jimbo, your boat or mine. Bring Dave too, he's always good for a laugh.

Doc, were you on high cliff. If so, we were slow trolling right behind you. You must have had the magic touch, our 6 fish came before 1am, fished hard until dawn with no more success.

I was on high cliff early then went back to town to pick up a stranded friend at 11:30. We got all of our fish south of high cliff going towards Sand Bay after returning.
