You could start by looking at everything on this website...downriggers are not required to catch walleye.

What kind of water do you fish? lakes? rivers? I'm sure that there is a simpler way to fish your water, downriggers are not usually necessary to catch walleyes.

You need to get some chartreuse night crawler harnesses. Get the ones with two hooks and a small spinner. Not the kind that looks like they're hammered, but the smooth kind. Put the worm on both hooks, leaving a long tail hanging off. If you can, slow troll it. This works pretty well, generally. Good luck!

Bottom bouncers (for weight) and spinner rigs are excellent for walleye this time of year till mid summer. They can be drifted or trolled. If trolling, a 3 or 4 ounce bouncer works good. If drifting, you can usually get by with a little less weight. The key with this rig is to keep it moving (slowly) and keep contact with the bottom. If trolling, deep diving crankbaits get down to the walleyes without extra weight or other equipment. Longer, minnow types such as Deep Thundersticks, deep junior thundersticks, or deep Reef Runners work great. Trolling speed should be around 1mph. Good Luck!

You really don't dneed down riggers. If you are trolling depending on the depth of where you are fishing there are many deep diving crank baits out there. You could use bottom bouncers, a three way rig with a large bell sinker, snap weights, or even lead core line if you want. Look around and see what best fits your fishing applacations. For snap weights go to www.offshoretackle.com They also have a wide selection of fine trolling products.

perch pro,
trolling is a great way to take walleyes and of coarse not the only way. you probably catch alot of panfish (perch) on jigs, jigs are a good set up for walleyes as well. you might go to a heavyer jig depending on depth of the water but in generally the same jigs you catch perch on will work for the 'eye's. don't forget to tip them with a piece of night crawler or minnow.
good luck
