I am from PA and am interested in taking a trip to one ofthese lakes in the near future. Is one better than the other? Does Ohio require a permit to launch an out of state boat? please help.

Have fished both for many years. My pick would be Mosquito hands done. Boat traffic is alot more tolerable as well as a decent water level.

I did not answer all of your question. Ohio does not require a permit to launch at a state ramp that I'm aware of. Good luck fishing for the "eyes" and let us know how you did.

Went to berlin on 5-7-2000.Their was alot of power boats. It took 10min to launch and 30min to take boat out of the water.A lot of weekend idiots.Go during the week and stay clear of the weekends. This is not a bad lake to fish. Alot of coves to hid in. We did very well at the dam-6 eyes and no boat traffic and the cove along the train tracks.Stay clear of the main lake.Water level is high because they are working on the dam

I have been fishing mosquito for the last five weeks. before the spawn I was taking fish in the 14 to 21 inch range on 1/4 ounce jigs tipped with minnows. This a popular year round method but about a week ago I switched to a slow long line troll with hot and tots (black and white herrbone natural pearch and silver with red blue or green). I have had great success with the south end of the lake and in the creek chanel. People always think i'm crazy when I tell them that if it's a tough bite that day tip your front treble of your hot and tot with a 1inch piece of crawler (wow does it work). mosquito is my choice and my home lake so email me closer to your trip and I will give you the up to date scoop. good luck and tight lines.
