Lundman & Jeff, how was Nelson?

Hey Lundman & Jeff,
How was Nelson Lake on opening? We fish Nellie a couple times a year and will be there in June. We will stay at Park Island Resort. Great place!!

Beach, as usual, Nelson was productive. Less than three minutes on the water Sat. am and my son stuck a twenty incher. We found fishing to be steady from 6:30 am to mid afternoon. Not much on the evening bite, but I hear that was true all over WI. Slip bobber and minnows or leaches in the wood or light wire jigs and minnows. Lots of small males. Also caught some nice northerns, up to 8 lbs. A great weekend. Son has planned another trip this weekend with his cousins. if you head up this weekend, watch for the Alumacraft lunker with three kids and a frenzied man in the back. Stop over and chat. Keep the lines stretched!

Thanks for the return. Sound like Nellie was productive for you again. Like I mentioned, we will be there 2nd week in June and counting the days. We will look for your boat. If you see a red Nitro with a yellow Lab running around on the front deck stop by a say hey. Good fishin'

Hi Beach,

Well, we did alright. From the sounds of it, not quite as good as Jeff did, but, it was my first time fishing Nelson with soft water. We got most of our fish on Sat. It seemed like it slowed down a bit on Sunday. Our biggest was 18 inches. But like Jeff said, we released a lot of short fish as as well. One scrappy pike, about 4 or 5 pounds, got away with my only firetiger Husky jerk. Grrrr!!!....oh well, that's fishin' I guess. We stayed at Birch Point. John is a great cook, had a wonderfull steak Sat. night, and really good Blueberry pancakes on Sunday. Definately will be returning there. Had a great time.

Jeff,

Think I saw you motor by on your way to the extreme northwestern end of the lake. Is your Smoker mostly gray, to match the drivers hair? We were fishing the shoreline directly across from the entrance of the bay that Lake 25 is in. Have a good one.
