Looking for a smallie report for my dad for the next couple days. I'm out of town but he is up with his buddy from 30 years ago in the army and looking for jumpers. All catch and release. Will trailer boat where required. Prefer not to run to Pelee.
Thanks all,
Steve

LAUNCH AT VERMILION RAMP OR IF YOUR BOAT IS 20 FT OR UNDER, LAUNCH AT CRANBERRY CREEK MARINA WHICH IS HALFWAY BETWEEN HURON AND VERMILION.
FISH 8 TO 15 FT OF WATER BETWEEN CRANBERRY AND THE LARGE WHITE HOUSE ABOUT 3/4 MILES EAST OF
CRANBERRY.
THIS AREA IS 5.5 MILES WEST OF VERMILION.
BEEN DOING GOOD ON 3-5 POUNDERS ON CRANK BAITS
(RATTEL TRAPS ETC.) SOME ON CRAWLER HARNESS ON
BOTTOM IN SHALLOW WATER.
VERY ROCKY THERE LOTS OF HANG-UPS BUT DEFINITLY
THE PLACE FOR SMALLIES IN THIS AREA.
SHOULD BE OTHER BOATS IN THE AREA LOOKING FOR THEM ALSO.
GOOD LUCK.
Be careful at Cranberry. It is shallow at the entry in a normal year. I know guys who've nearly lost it coming in there when storms come up. It's shallow enough to let your rig settle on the bottom as the next one comes over the back. This is a personal preference but I'd put in at the Huron River off route 6 or at Verm. I've seen some big uglies at Cranberry. Plus the ramp in my opinion sucks. Unless they improved it in the last year.....I'd avoid it.

Clown Ripsticks have consistantly caught big smallies in this area for us just recently.
8' to 18' water depth trolling with Ripsticks up to 50' behind the boards.
Ruggles, Sherod Park off of Vermilion, the artificial reef at lorain, and St Anthonys off of lorain are all good for jumpers right now. have fun. good luck and good fishin.

Thanks for the info. Dad fished around North Bass on Tues and Kelleys on Wed. Did NOT do any good. Was planning on heading east today and tomorrow to the areas you suggested but based on wind and waves it looks like he'll be spending these two days drinking beer back at the dock rather than chasing jumpers. I bet he does better on the Bud Light than the smallies!!
