The bite was on at Chatfield Saturday and Sunday. No keeper size (18" ) seen caught, 17 15/16" was the biggest I saw. They are very healthy and plump. All of them came off the sunken road.
Water temp was in the mid 50's. Go during the week if you can. Went Saturday and Sunday and it
was a complete zoo. Actually saw a guy reading the owners manual to his jet ski while tied up to the
dock. The boat traffic didn't seem to affect the bite, but made my kidneys hurt working the wakey
lake in my tri-hull.
Any other lakes in Colorado producing yet?

We are headed for North Sterling Friday and Nee Noshe on Saturday and Sunday. Will let you know if we come up with anything. Also does anyone have any ideas for me on North Sterling?

I grew up in Sterling so I have some ideas.
Goose Island always produces something. Just to the South of goose island is the sh@thouse wall. It is an eroded bank by an outhouse that has been sitting there for a while, but never used. They may have put a campground in there.
The dam usually produces something. Straight out from the dam is a big point that comes out. In the opposite arm than the one that has goose island is an eroded wall much like the sh@thouse wall. I believe it faces North as well. The marina can produce crappies. The inlet, if flowing can produce big cats. Otherwise troll up shallow in the arms with rattletraps or husky jerks about 2 mph for big wipers. If you get a chance talk to the older guy in Blue Bird. You will pass by it if you take the Atwood exit off of the interstate. It is next to the VFW.

We're heading to NeeNoshe Saturday as well; we'll be in my buddy's boat, it's blue (I think!) and white, with a 150hp Yamaha outboard. If it's hot, we'll probably have golf umbrellas over the fishing seats. The boat is one of those combo ski/fishing boats, with a trolling motor up front.
We'd like to get some minnows on the way, do you know any place that sells them? We're going via Limon. They used to sell bait in Lamar (Lucky's), but I called yesterday and thay said their shop at J. Martin is the only one that now sells bait.

The liquor store in Eads sells minnows. They are out front in the white horse trough. $2.00 per dozen. They open at 9:00 Saturday morning though. We had better luck trolling with shadraps for saugeye than using minnows. Minnows are good for crappies after the saugeye stop biting, which is about 9:00 - 10:00 in the morning. I hear bottom bouncing with nightcrawlers is working well for saugeye.
