Hate for you to read my report. I just got back this morning after three nice days at Cass Lake and Wishbone Lodge. The resort was awesome, as was the food. Unfortunately, opening day and the day after yielded good catches of walleye, snap jigging. We would anchor in 10 ft of water and cast out to the deeper breaks and snap back. This seemed to be a popular technique. We also tried trolling shad raps and crawler harnesses with bottom bouncers. I would say I talked to at least 10 different parties at the lodge and as of Friday night, people were lucky to catch 1 or 2 walleyes. One guy took out a guide and he used lindy rigs with 48" snells and crawlers on Turtle river bar with good success. Perch were everywhere. We caught several 12" and over perch in 4' of water with the most productive spot, just south to the entrance to Buck lake, near the point. In 3 days, I caught 4 walleyes with the biggest being 18". I saw very few walleyes in the fish cleaning house. So to leave on a positive note, it can only get better. We also had an incredible amount of wind, which was not consistent. Half the day, it would be 15-25 mph out of the east and then switch just as strong out of the north or south. Pretty strange. I do think it has great potential. Good luck.
