Hello!
Just starting to learn how to pull plugs. Is anyone using Shakespeare's TW10LCL Linecounter reels? Price seems right for entry level.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with the Shakespeare. Most guys I know fish with the Daiwa 27C line counter reels. If you watch for sales, I have purchased some for as low as $75. I own eight of them, and I think they are worth every penney.

For $79, you can get a nice line counter reel that has worked great for me. It is the Cabela's Depthmaster D20W. I have been told that Pinnacle makes these reels for Cabela's. They also have a digital one (DT-300MB) that runs $100. That one is a little more compact than the D20W. Just another option....

JK,
I recently purchased two of them. havent had a chance to use them yet but they SEEM to be a decent reel. I like them better then the Okuma's, but again...have not put them to the test. Nothing beats the Daiwa 27's in my book, but if your on a budget or only troll occasionally, they might make a good reel.
Cabela's spring catalog has them as a combo with the ugly stick rod for $69.99.
my 2 cents

I have a reel that looks the same as cabelas depthmaster it weights 13.2ozvs.13.1.and has gear racio of 4.3 :1vs.4.1to1 for the cabelas reel.the line capacity is300 yds. of 20 lbs.linevrs 240/25 for the cab reel. it has 3 stainless ball bearings, graphite frame ,spoolclick on-off antireverce ,and is line counter called a compass c,measures in feet.. I never got to fish with it ,sold it to a friend for 50 bucks because he needed one quick, and reported it worked fine.(i made money on the deal too).
if you pay the shipping I can get all you want.. I also can get okuma classic star drag reels and classic pro stardrag reels at very good prices but not linecounters yet, maybe soon.. jim c.

If it was me I would hold off buying that reel until you have saved the extra money and get a
Diawa. It is pretty much the consensus that Diawa makes the best line counter reel. They will
last for ever and never let you down.

Thanks for the responses, I would probably only pull plugs a couple of times a year so I am looking for a good deal!
Thanks Again.

HI,
I bought 4 Shakespeare Line Counters that clamp on your rod. They work great in and out and I switch them from my Walleye Rods to my Salmon Rods and they only cost around $12.00.

Just a word of caution, I know some people who have had problems with the digital DT-300 Cabela's linecounter Drags. The new spring magazine says they have been redesigned, so I imagine they are OK now. I have 1 good one and 1 questionable one.

I started using the Shakespeare add on line counters (clamp on) last year. They worke so good I'll never buy another line counter reel. And they only cost 12 bucks.
