The Edgewood is on the best spot of the lake. Its cecluded on the upper east end of the lake. I have had the most luck in this area. Dont overlook mud lake in that area also if you like good panfishing.

Never stayed at Edgewood, but if you are looking for a classy place it's hard to beat Ludlow's Island. When you arrive at their priovate boat landing, you call them on a crank phone and they send someone over to shore to put in your boat and/or haul your gear over to the island. They make you feel like a king, and their cabins are unbelieveably nice. Covered boat docks with lights and electric outlets round out one of the nicest places I've ever stayed at and I've stayed at dozens of them. Vermilion is a beautiful lake.
Colleen and I spent last week on the lake, fished in all the bays west of Oak Narrows.
As usual, the lake made us WORK for our fish, but we did OK.
Walleye's were shallower than I expected, responding well to leeches slow-rigged in 6 to 14 feet of water. Fish averaged 15-18" length.
Smallmouth were committing suicide, and were mostly small, but I did catch (and release) an 18-1/2" mama still loaded with eggs.
Nice northern were scarce, but found a lot of "hammer handles" in the cabbage bays at the east end of Wakemup narrows.
Sampled a couple of my favorite sunfish holes -- fish were there, but smaller than usual. Noticed I was picking up larger bluegills in deeper water when searching for walleye. Surprised to catch about a half-dozen real slabs in 12-15' off the north side of Hibbing Point.
Weather was ideal - only had to don the raingear once (on Wednesday), and wind never kept us off the water.
Gotta put in a plug for our hosts, Mike and Bonnie Lantry at White Eagle Resort. They run the best resort operation on the lake, and their new cabins are nicer than most private homes.
