I'm just curious about how many WC folks are entering this tourney. I know that Gilligan and myself have sent in our applications, but wondered who else I'll be looking up while I'm out there. I kind of run out of other thing to think about this time of year! Good Fishing, Sluggo

Wow, Sluggo looks we are the only ones unless your sidekick 'What About Bob' jumps in.

Must be our end of the lake isnt too popular. Don't know whether I should have a chip on my shoulder for this water being overlooked :-( or glad the crowds haven't tuned in on it. :7

Guys I certainly do not want to burst your bubble, but last year the PWT did not allow any one time fishermen. They give preference to guys that are willing to commit to the entire tournament first, then the east or west divisions, then 1 timers if the divisions don't fill. Last year they filled. I'm sure they expect them to fill this year also. Good luck, I hope you get in and do well.

I'm pretty sure they are talking about the am side of it ETT. They should be able to get in that one pretty easy, I'm thinkin'.

We are fishing the amateur side, but it seems like at least several seasons back they did give prefrence to those amateurs fishing the whole circuit. Just glancing thru the rules I didn't notice anything about that this year.

We are planning to go out early and maybe have an opportunity to prefish with some of the pros as we fish this water alot and consider it our 'home' water even if it's 120 miles away.

It would be nice to get in and fish the tournament but if worse comes to worse we will have our rigs along and still fish all week. Tournament is held at the hottest bite of the year for the east basin so its a can't loose week.

DUH!!! my bad. yes they do give preference to ams fishing the whole thing but there has always been openings for 1 timers on the am side. Jim Kalkofen will help you find a ride with a pro, but you'd probably be better off setting up your own prefishing arrangements. Make yourself available to suit their schedule and you shouldn't have any trouble. If you know any of the out-of-towners, even just from the this board, call him in advance and see if he's looking for someone to fish. The best bet is to be his prefishing partner for all 4 or 5 days, because then he isn't worried about showing you something that you may show to someone else. Best of luck.

Sluggo,

I'm a W/C guy NOT fishing the tournament, but I'll be fishing there for fun and comparing my results with the pro's results. I like to fish the same times and same rules and see how I stack up. As a matter of fact I'll probably NOT fish the other major Lake Erie tournaments the same way. I'm going to try to enter a couple of USFA tourneys though. Never fished east of Cleveland before, only because the fishing west of Cleveland is so good, but I've read the reports from Ashtabula to Niagra and I know that fishing there can be awesome. Maybe I'll run into you there and you can point out the quirks of fishing that area. Good luck and I hope you draw the right 3 pros.

We usually go out of Barcelona which is about 15 mi west of Dunkirk and run back near Dunkirk. If you are fishing for the fun of it Barcelona is alot more fisherman friendly than Dunkirk as well as better access for parking. Lots of us crash in pickup campers right on site.
