The 39Pt Buck that was killed in Greene cty,in Ohio was scored by 2 B&C offical score personel. It is now the new world record 303 points. It is on the front page of the dayton daily news sports section.See the guy that weclomes you at the Xenia, Ohio Walmart knows all!He told me back in october that it was the new world record, and alot of you said no way and was wondering where my source of info was coming from,James from Walmart he is the man.
CJ,
i believe that it will be the new world record, but correct me if i'm wrong, the score is considered a green score. that means that it has to age a given period of time(not sure how long). there is quite a bit of shrinkage when the bones dry out(mainly effects the spread), but i suspect it will be the new boone and crocket world record after that period of time has expired.

I just saw a report in the paper that said that it may not qualify for Boon & Crocket. They are waiting to test the bow used. Boone & Crocket has a rule that the let off can not exceed 65% in order for a buck to qualify for the book. If the bow used was a 70% let off then no new "OFFICIAL" record. Kind of like a line test record.
Either way one heck of a buck!!!

The required drying time is over and the buck has been officially scored. This is not a green score. Neither is it a World Record. There are two non-typical bucks larger in the record books, but the buck in question is the largest non-typical ever bagged by a hunter. The other two were not killed by hunters, so this is the largest non-typical ever taken by a hunter. It must be panel scored before it is certified at the next B&C meeting, but that's pretty much a formality. It is a remarkable buck, I've seen several photos of it and it looks surprisingly like the Hole-in-the-horn buck. Lucky guy.

Boone & Crockett has no restrictions on bow let-off. You can enter deer killed with any legal weapon in B&C, even road kills and found-dead deer. You may be thinking of the Pope and Young Club, a group which keeps records for bow-killed deer and which has restrictions on let-off.

Yes there is a drying period for scoreing,I don't remeber when it was shot, but it is 60 days after that.I didn't hear or read anything about the bow and 70% let off, maybe for pope and young but I don't see how for B&C.The rumors are flying around here, the property next to where he shot it was feeding the deer corn with steriods in it,this is also the property where it expired, they also want some money from the guy who shot it.That is just a few I heard this morning at the coffee shop.If it is true, that means the #1 and #2 buck in the world came from Ohio.

A huge buck and one any hunter would be proud of, yes. But a new world record, no. It is a record for the biggest non-typical ever killed by a hunter but two non-typicals have been measured that are bigger. they are the Missouri Monarch which was found dead near St. Louis and the Hole-in-the-Horn buck. Both these animals scored more than this buck. I'm not trying to belittle the buck that was killed in 2000. This animal is a once in a lifetime deal. Just wanted to set the record straight.

Just have to add my .02
I shot a 183 1/8th typical this year and in the 60 day drying period it didn't shrink at all. My first B&C, nice deer but just think that it takes 30 & 1/2 inches more to match the record for typical. B&C sure ask alot of questions but they make sure everything is the same for everyone in order to get it in the books.

Fish-on,
There is actually a restriction on the draw of the bow to be officially entered. B&C WILL NOT enter in their book if the let off is more than 65%.

T Ryan how many points did your deer that scored 183 have?I shot a true 8 pt that scored 163 6/8,a 10 pt that scored 168 7/8,and 11pt that scored 155 1/8.The guy who measured my 10pt is the same guy who measured this 39pt who only scored it 291,B&C scored it and found over 12 more inches.I have always wanted a B&C deer,I asked this guy to remeasure mine to see if he could find 1in and 1/8,he would not do it.Now seeing what he did for this 39pt I might take mine to someone else.

B&C is calling it a 10, it has 12 offical points ( over an inch )but two of them are below the brow tines so they are deductions for a typical rack. The rack has a total gross score of 191 3/8th so I lost 8 2/8th with deductions. The 191 score would of been nice but I am not complaining. Three of the tines are over 12" with one at 10 4/8th so lost a little on that one. The beams run out to 26 3/8 ea. and has a 20 4/8th spread. Not real wide like some but sure is in nice shape, nothing busted or no drop tines. I am the one in the center of this pic. at this URL. http://www.wvp.com/deer/states/mn/ryan.shtml

Beautiful, beautiful bucks TRyan!!! Why don't you tell us where you shot these bucks, then we can all hunt there and have the possibility of shooting a trophy, right??? What do people think???
Is this something you do each year or was it just an exceptional year for ya'all?
thanks for the picture, love those grey ghosts...

Thanks to all on the complements for the deer.
The deer were all shot on opening day in MN, the hunt took place in a permit only area. They have a drawing for it about every other year. I have been lucky to draw three times, the first time was 15 years ago( the very first year they had it ) and I shot a 10 point that scored 142 out of the same tree that I shot this years deer, I hope it never falls over. The wife now is going to have two deer looking at her from the wall, boy is she excited - not. The two other deer in the pic were two guy's that came in to register there deer at the same time I was so we lined them up for the picture. We plan to have them at the deer classic lined up just like the picture. I live close to the area so I spend lots of time scouting and saw each of the deer I shot weeks before the season and just lucky to be the one to get the first shot at them.
Thanks again to everyone and good luck to all.
