Fished north of the islands on the reefs. fished the edges for 13' up to 8'. Used mostly "Teasers" tipped with less than 1/2 worm. Caught 22 nice "eyes" with three being above 28". Many sheephead of good size and a few smallmouth, although, one person in boat landed a 6 1/2 pounder. He is still smiling. With only four in the boat we felt we had an excellant day.

One gripe is that too many boaters is still very inconsiderate. When fishing shallow areas they still motor up "too fast" and spook wahtever you may have had going, wish they would realize that shallow water and noisy motors do not mix.

What are teasers?

Teasers are a weight forwarder that is minnow shaped and the blade in front of the weight. Use 1/4 oz and max 3/8 oz in the shallow water. Also, used "tiny tots". The best way to describe these is that they are somewhat bell shaped as they are attached to the wire. (Also, a weight forward). We have purchased ours at Hi-way bait or Channel Grove Marina. Our best color was chartruese or gold.

The bite we had occur on the top of the reef as we came up out of the deeper (13 - 18 foot water). We, also, we north of the border.

I do not recall if Rickard's bait sells either teasers or tots.

Good luck on your next trip.

You also did better than we did. Three of us caught 6 nice eaters, trolling southeast of Sputnik just north of the gravel pit. 5 came off stingers behind dipsys. The biggest hit a wiggle wart. We also threw back 3, 1st year class fish. There were a lot of mayfly casings on the water and a few flying around.

Ditto to the mayfly casings. They are just starting to show up where we were at. Haven't done much trolling yet this year. From the sounds of it, it depends upon where you are at and the success has varied significantly.

Good luck on next trip, I hope to go this week again.
