Has anyone been to Glendo lately? How is the water level? I know the fishing is usually good.
Thanks in advance for any info!

I have not been up there in two weeks, but the water was down considerably then. The concrete tubes back in airport bay were out of the water. We were stopped for the creel survey-six officers looking in the truck, in the coolers, and in the boat. It did not help that my buddy told them that we caught the fish in the mouth and in the water when they asked where we caught them. We were completely legal-had just kept a couple eaters for dinner the next day. They did say fishing had slowed down and the people they checked had not had much luck that day. The high temp was only 63 degrees down 27 degrees from the day before. We will probably be at greyrocks this weekend-but not for sure.

I am starting to get a little concerned about the water level come early October when we meet for the Western Walleye Central Get-together. Do you think there will be any problems launching boats? I realize the weather can change between now and then, just curious as to what you think?

Neal:
I had asked about Glendo's fall water levels during earlier conversations about locating the get-together. I spent the weekend @ McConaughy, and I'm betting that Big Mac will be down to only a ramp or two (near the dam) by October.

We will have to keep an eye on it and see what happens in the next 30 days. I haven't been out of Colorado yet this summer, so I have no idea what the water levels are like in Wyoming or Nebraska.

Eyewinder where do you live? and are thinking about attending in October?

Neal:
I'd love to attend, but to be honest with you, work makes it tough for me to plan that far out. I will make an October trip, but don't know which direction the fish-mobile will be headed.
Oh yeah. . .I live in Lincoln (SE) Nebraska.

I believe that typically this lake will hit its low point in early september. When the irrigation is completed for the year, the reservoir will begin filling pretty quickly. We were up there in September last year and it was down 65 feet from 06-30-99. We were still able to launch. Could hardly keep the carp off the line-all those fish in a very small lake.

WATER LEVELS at Glendo and a number of western U.S. reservoirs are managed by the Bureu of Reclaimation. If you go to their website, at #####://www.gp.usbr.gov/htbin/arcweb_gler.com, you can actually see the current water level of the reservoir. By looking at water level archives from previous years and interpolating/applying the same rate of descent, you can probably plot the approximate water level for your October excursion. Good luck
