After considerable research, I've decided to get a GLoomis SJR721.
A couple questions. I live in Arkansas and most of my wallys come in the 30 - 60 foot depth range. It is an extreme finesse presentation due to the depth and water clarity. What line would you recommend? I used Fireline right after it came out, and wasn't
crazy about it - went back to Trilene XL, but am missing a few on it due to the stretch. Is Fireline now any better than when it was introduced? What about PowerPro? While we're at it, what about reels. So far I am leaing toward Shimano Sradic or Sustain, or the Pinnacle Limited.

If you are fishing in 30-60 feet of water with mono -- I suggest that the 721 might be a bit on the light side.

If you go to a 722, you might find that your sensitivity is just as good, but you have better hook sets - due to the stiffer rod.

You might try one of the other super lines, power pro, spider wire, or even the light 4 lb fire line.

I don't like to use any of these lines for jigging -- I simply find that I catch more fish with mono, but to each his own.

For mono, you might try the spider wire mono or the berkley sensithin. A bit less stretch in either of these monos.

Take care

REW - Thanks. Gave a lot of thought to the 722, but I am looking at using 1/8 - 3/16 (absolute max 1/4 oz ) weight to catch the finnicky creatures here. Also would like to use the rod for more normal depths during my vacations to Minnesota. Otter

He might want to take a good look at the 641 and/or 642 (the shorter sticks) as well.

The 721 should have enough backbone. I wouldn't be afraid of a 722 though just because of the weight of jigs you are using. I use a SJR723 and a Stradic with only the weight of a hook and a powerbait. No problems casting or feeling bites. But, to answer your question I would go with a 721, Stradic, and Sensi-Thin.

You might consider Power Pro 2/10 or 4/20, and as REW suggested, going to a 722.
