: Vermilion, and Lorain, Ohio -eyes 7-26
The walleyes are being caught in decent numbers at Vermilion, and Lorain now. the fish are on both sides of the sandbar. the west side numbers for a starting point would be 41-32(north/south)and the 82-20 (east west). the east side numbers would be 41-32(n/south)and 82-12(e/w). these are just starting points and are the average of where a lot of eyes are being taken the last few days. most were close to the bottom, and the size was real decent. the speeds were from 2.2 to 3mph. colors were-monkey puke, copper watermelon, gold watermelon, boy-girl, rainbow, and of course confusion. i hope this helps. the weather isnt looking good for the weekend as of now(chances of thundershowers), but that can change quickly. good luck and good fishin.
Den
Good post Den, but I would add, the fish are not on any particular set of numbers. The place is going to be crowded on the weekend and everyone needs to courtious and considerate. Boats can put the fish down (especially the larger ones) so stay spread out. My last 2 trips were very successful and we fish 8 miles in one direction one day and 6 miles the other day. It's a large area, no need to hastle each other. Have fun & good luck.

Good Post .. Do you care if I save it & reuse it for IL next Spring? .. Sure does "Apply" here also!

No problem. I just wish we had 8 miles of fish on Indian. I guess we do if you count the shore line.
HawkEyeMike 07-27-2000, 03:52 PM Pulled fish today over a four mile east/west line west of the sandbar. Fish are really spread out, but there is a huge school. Caught about 40 eyes (with four rods out) in six hours. Then the rains came. I definitely did better away from the packs of boats....there were two distinct packs, one east and one west of the bar.
Good advice to find your own fish....and work them.

Jim Thomas (Thomas's Tub) 07-28-2000, 03:58 AM 7/27/00 I was out yesterday morning from 9 AM to 1 PM, I was fishing 33-13 to 33-17 trolling speed 1.7 paddlewheel, 2.2 GPS. I took a limit of eyes (landed 15, lost two more at boat). Hot lures, shrimp stinger, monkey puke stinger, and watermelon. Fishing was very fast, and some very nice fish. Fish weight at Bennett's was 28 pounds.
Jim Thomas 07-28-2000, 04:00 AM Above catch was on dipsies, no.3 setting 135, no.1 setting 80
HawkEyeMike 07-28-2000, 05:33 AM Best dipsy settings (the big dispy) were 110 back at #3, and 85 back on #2. Trolling speed was 2.3-2.4 on the gps. I've done better all year on the Stinger, not the Scorpion. Less white bass on the Scorpion. The sheepshead like everything, however.
Also, I experimented with the Reef Runner Lil Ripper behind the big dipsy. It caught fish, but didn't seen to catch any more, or any bigger fish, than the spoons.
