hey guys,
know this is walleye central, but i would like to know the best place to fish for yellows from shore or piers. i don't think my 24ft pontoon would be good on the big pond. are there any inland lakes i could fish for perch with good results in ohio's s.e. section?

Bttmline,

I don't reside in Ohio and am not familiar with Erie but i do know there are quite a few inland lakes you could take the pontoon to. check your map for Mosquieto lake, Conneaute lake and Pymatuning lake. All full of both 'eye's and perch.

There is a pier in Huron that will have perch in September but I think it is slow going now. You could also try the Bayview Bridge/Pier on Sandusky Bay. There is one in Bayview and the other one is in Marblehead across the bay. That is all the pters I know of.

I am not a local, but I was at Sandusky a month ago. There is a public pier (don't know the name) that surrounds a marina that is just West of the big Amusement park. There were two older guys sitting on the pier (West corner) with a nice mess of perch. They said they do pretty well in that spot. Good Luck!

thanks again,

If it was you who asked about perch fishing Erie in a pontoon boat I think it could be reasonably safe to perch fish inside one of the harbors in descent weather. There have been times when I did quite well at Ashtabula inside and just outside the breakwall. As long as the weather and lake is calm and you stay relatively close to the harbor you should be fine.
