A buddy and I fished a couple of tournaments, but the payout seemed off. I went to their web page and copied the numbers off the page and it doesn't add up. www.fishtheriver.com/iwtt/

Per their web page, the entry fee is $160.
Take of $10 for conservation fee.
Take off $25 for Championship fund.
Leaves $125, then take away 20%...leaves $100 per entry paid out. So I thought.

April 9: 52 teams fished. $100 payback equals $5200. IWTT paid back $5035...MISSING $165!

April 30: 53 teams fished. $100 payback equals $5300. IWTT paid back THE SAME as the 52 team field...MISSING $265!

May 14: 51 teams fished. $100 payback equals $5100. IWTT paid back $4750....MISSING $350!

July 9: 43 teams fished. $100 payback equals $4300. IWTT paid back $4000...MISSING $300!

South

April 16: 36 teams fished. $100 payback equals $3600. IWTT paid back $3325...MISSING $275!

May 7: 37 teams fished. $100 payback equals $$3700. IWTT paid back $3435...MISSING $265!

June 11: 33 teams fished. $100 payback equals $3300. IWTT paid back $3230...MISSING $70!

September 10: 33 teams fished. $100 payback equals $3300. IWTT paid back $3040...MISSING $260! Payout should've been the same as June 11th, but it was LESS!!

Please enlighten me. What am I missing that takes away from the payout that much?

First of all, you need to get your calculator fixed or do it again and push the right buttons. Your figures are off. Secondly, there are other factors involved in the paybacks including the costs of trophies, plus there are sometimes no-shows, etc.

I cannot imagine what you think you have to gain by posting this here rather than contacting me personally with your concerns. I'm sure not getting rich off the IWTT if that is your motivation.

I have put the vast majority of the profits back into the IWTT since the beginning, that fact has been evident every year. If you had been involved since the beginning, you would be able to easily see the continual improvements. Last year it was all new computer equipment and immediate printouts of the results. That will be evident again this year as we have just purchased a trailer that will have a fold out stage and an office. Look for a bigger and better IWTT once again in 2001!

I can not imagine why you would choose this forum to get an answer to your question. If you truely wanted to know, you might have just called Bernie. He has always been around to answer any questions that I have had so I can not imagine that you would have had trouble contacting him. This just makes it look like your intention was to damage the reputation of the IWTT and Bernie's personal charicter. I am pretty sure you could have gotten an answer to your question without appearing to be vendictive.

I also can't understand why you wouldn't call Bernie and at least give him a chance to explain the system to you before posting here. He has always been up front w/me and answered any questions I may have had. The IWTT is a great circuit, don't put it down without all the facts. Thanks.

SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU NEED TO TAKE UP A NEW SPORT, WHERE THE ONLY PERSON INVOLVED IS YOU. THEN MAYBE YOU COULD WIN AND ALL YOUR PROBLEMS WOULD BE SOLVED.BERNIE AND THE GUYS ARE FIRST CLASS AND WOULD CHEAT YOU FOR ANYTHING. LEAVE THEM ALONE.
