Wife booked us at Branson for a week this month. Anyone have a suggestion for a day of fishing? An area guide you'd recommend. I'm not taking my boat since I wouldn't get more than one outing anyway. Suggestions welcomed and very much appreciated. Danke. Tak.

Fished Tablerock last summer. Used silver jointed redfins fished right on the surface for spotted bass and large white bass. Used pepperd brown plastics for smallmouth. Great fishing right around the big floating docks. As a matter of fact, in both early morning and late evening my wife and I caught more fish from our resort dock than we did running around the lake. We used a guide one day. Here is a website for you http://www.aroundthelake.com which gives you a choice of lakes near branson and if you go down the right side you will find the name of guides. Also, go to mapquest.com and zero in on Branson, MO. and surronding area.
Hope this helps,
ufda

There is a marina from which you can rent bass boats at Kimberling City on Tablerock. Close to Branson, but not cheap.

They're slamming the trout right outside of Branson at Tannecomo right now and it should last a while. I went across the bridge and I couldn't believe it when I saw probably 300 people oon shore, waders and in boats this week.

I fished with Rick Lapoint on Table Rock last week and had a great day catching spotted and largemouth bass on plastics. Rich is a great guy and great guide and has been on Table Rock for the last 12 years. His e-mail address is www.strikebass.com. I highly recommend him.

Hey folks, thanks bunches. I've printed the replies and will have more than a good starting point for my single outing. Didn't think of the shore (dock) fishing opportunities, so will take along enough to hit some early morning hours (I'm always up and going long before my wife, anyway). The trip looks better already.

I just got back from that area a week ago.
I'm not big on country music but did enjoy the two shows we went to. Mickey Gilley's and The Baldknobbers. Fished at the Little Red river for trout. Three of us limited out on one day and caught only two on another day when they were generating. Fished below dam at Greers Ferry.
We stayed at the Honeysuckle Inn in town. Good rates and pleasant place to stay.
